When I was hungry...
Needy Children

I thought we had it all taken care of. I’m 80 years old and I guess I just don’t understand things as well as I used to. And sometimes it’s all I can do to keep my wife comfortable. She’s in a wheelchair and can’t do much for herself.

When I noticed our monthly income check had been reduced by quite a bit, I called the agency. They told me it was a mistake and it would be fixed. But that didn’t happen for several months, and I couldn’t pay all the bills. Soon we owed over $1,000 to the electric company. They were going to cut us off. I called the agency again and they told me the same thing. But the money still didn’t come. I didn’t know what to do!

I called The Salvation Army – I’d never done that before. Not only did they pay part of the electric bill so we wouldn’t lose power, they called the agency and got things straightened out with our check! I didn’t know they did things like that. What a relief!
